Hey Guys – I think my previous post was lost after the server issue was fixed BadKing. This website is a Godsend! Glad you’re back and thanks to all the awesome artists contributing their work to this awesome Mech Brush Set.

I’m relatively new to ZBrush but experienced modeler/rigger in Maya. I was wondering if anyone has any workflow examples using these custom Mech Brushes like this one from Fuad? For instance, after I load the brush and add one a mesh to my scene, edit it etc, where do you go from there? The topology of these meshes are kind of messy (tris, lots of polys, no UVs)? Do you remesh these and create UVs? Do you somehow bake out normal/displace/bump maps and apply them to clean low res versions of the geometry?

What’s your take on it, thanks in advance!
    Tim

Hey Tim, thanks for the kind words 🙂 Fuad’s Mech pieces are great for concepting. If on the other hand, you want to create a model to be later used for production purposes, you would need to retoplogise/ remesh your design and also create your own UVs before exporting into 3rd party applications like Maya, 3DSMax etc. The great thing about ZBrush is that it gives you a series of remeshing/ retopology tools as well as quick and easy ways to create UVs for your model. Unfortunately it can be difficult when it comes to hard surface designs. I hope this helps!
