BadKing has been steadily growing over the last year but still has a long way to go, which is why we have introduced our Reward System by sharing the ‘Embed Code’ and ‘Share Link’ on the right.
In order for the site to grow we need to start offsetting some of the bandwidth and labour costs required to run the site. Ways to support the site include Purchasing Items from the product section, making a donation via PayPal, purchasing Download Points or simply spreading the word.
WHAT ARE DOWNLOAD POINTS
Download Points are used to download additional content from the BadKing website, anything from 720-1080p videos, additional 3d models/ brushes and related project files. You can purchase Points via the shopping cart or earn them by spreading the word though the Reward System seen on the right.
HOW DO REWARD POINTS WORK
We add a tracking number to the link and embed code as seen on the right. This tracking number is linked specifically to your account which means we can track the amount of clicks you receive and reward you accordingly.
HOW DO I START EARNING POINTS
It’s simple. All you need to do is Cut & Paste the ‘Embed Code’ or ‘Share Link’ into any Social Networking site, Blog, E-mail, etc. For every click we track, you earn a download point. More points are earned if the people you attract sign-up to BadKing.
BE RESPONSIBLE - DON'T GET SPAMMY
Be respectful, nobody likes to be spammed, so although we appreciate your enthusiasm, repeatedly emailing and baiting people to click on videos or links is not the way to go.
Please be aware repeatedly clicking on a Video or Link will not earn you additional points and is of no real benefit.
If you like our content please help spread the word responsibly, your help is greatly appreciated.

Great intro to 2.5. It would be great to see this tut expanded to cover making alphas Do’s and Don’ts.
But thanks again for BadKings.
BadKing
Anytime 🙂 And thanks for the suggestion, will definitely look into it.

very encouraging to see the responses to questions.
more mentor like than just getting routed to a most frequently asked questions page.
BadKing
My goal is to make BadKing a unique resource site where everyone can share their knowledge and help fellow artists. There’s so much more planned for the site to make it more interactive, can’t wait to get there 🙂
ARARAT

Something I ignored and kind of forgot about until now, 2.5D. Finally I understand its place, this will be most useful, cheers BK for putting these tutorials up here. So much to learn, finding goldmines like these make the journey a lot smoother :]
BadKing
You’re welcome, so glad to hear they help 🙂

I wish I had seen this tutorial a few weeks ago! Being new to Zbrush I didn’t know when I was in 2D mode or 3D mode, so frustrating and confusing! You’ve done well to make this topic the first. Thanks.
BadKing
It’s great to hear that the tutorials are helping. Thanks so much for the comment 🙂

hey there
at first thank you for the nice tuts, second I have a little quastion if I draw 2 tools then I can edit the last one what if I want to edit the first tool ? can I do that without undo/delete the last?
cheers:)
BadKing
No problems at all 🙂 In 2.5D, unfortunately no, you need to erase it manually using the eraser brush. I hope this helps!

Thanks for this. But still – what is the point in 2.5D. Most of us are looking to create 3D models. Not plan view paintings. Can you shed some light on that? Much appreciated.
BadKing
There are several uses in 2.5D, probably the most prominent is in regards to creating detail on 3d models. This tutorial is very basic and doesn’t cover more of the advanced uses. 2.5D can be used to create anything from tileable Alpha and texture Maps to projecting detail directly onto a 3d surface. It’s actually quite extraordinary 🙂 Here’s a link that might shed some more light on the topic. Hope this answers your question.

Thankyou
BadKing
Will do 🙂

in your second tutorial you talk about going between 2.5D and 3D objects. I have a 3D object and I used the smudge tool, I can’t seem to go back into 3D mode. I.e. I can’t turn on the edit tool. So it seems to have become a 2.5D object.
How do I switch between 3D and 2.5D objects.
BadKing
Good question… Unfortunately you can’t. Once you use any of the 2.5 Brushes (like the Smudge Brush) on a 3D object it prematurity becomes 2.5D, this means you can no longer toggle back to 3D mode with that specific object… Hope this helps clear things up a little 🙂

Awesome post.
